Kaitlen's B-Day Party

Last weekend, Jalen was invited to Kaitlen's B-Day Party at the Build-A-Bear store at the mall. Kaitlin is one of Jalen's classmates. The kids had a lot of fun. They all built their own bear and then afterwards we walked down to the ice skating ring where the kids had pizza and cake. It was really cute. Mental note: great birthday party place for a girl. Since Jalen's done it already, we won't be doing it anymore since next year he'll be 6, so probably too old for Build-A-Bear. But otherwise great place to have a Pre-K or K-5 birthday party. Fun times!!!

*Jalen bei Kaitlen's Geburtstag's Feier in einem Laden wo man Baerchen macht. Kaitlen ist seine Klassenkollegin. Jedes Kind hat sein eigenen Baer gebastelt und danach hatten sie Pizza und Kuchen. Es hat ihm echt Spass gemacht und Toti kannte alle Kinder, weil die meisten aus seiner Klasse oder Schule waren.

A Bubble Bath in the Jacuzzi Tub

It doesn't happen often, because it's a lot of work for Mama, especially afterwards ... the cleaning of the bubbles ..... but today I agreed to let Jalen take a bath in the jacuzzi garden tub ... well, see for yourself ... this boy is too silly.

*Heute wollte Toti in unserer grossen Jacuzzi Badewanne baden, weil da die Blubber gross werden wenn wir die Stroehme anmachen. Na ja, drunter seht Ihr das Ergebnis, was aus ein bisschen Duschgel geworden ist, mit den ganzen Stroehmen die gekommen sind.

Our Last Trip to the Beach in 2009

For a last time this year we decided to go back to the beach, this time to Panama City Beach in FL, and spend Labor Day weekend there. We did have a wonderful time and stayed at a lovely resort, The Tidewater, right by the beach. Jalen and I also had a chance to visit Golf World - a marine zoo if you wish - and we actually had to go there twice because he couldn't get enough of the dolphins, stingrays, and sea lions. It was a great ending to our summer 2009!

*Meine Lieben, hier seht ihr Photos von diesem Wochenende in Panama City in Florida. Wir sind auch in sowas aehnliches wie einem Zoo gegangen, aber fuer Wassertiere. Dem Toti hat das alles viel Spass gemacht und ich hab die Zeit mit ihm sehr genossen. Unser letztes Mal beim Strand wohl in 2009.

We only spent about 5 minutes in RBON because soon after we entered the museum Jalen was ready to leave .... fast .... he got a little scared of the curious creatures featured in the museum. Well, I guess it was too early .... after all he's not even 5 yet .... but soon!

*Wir waren nicht lange im RBON Museum, denn schon nach gar nicht mal 5 Minuten wollte Jalen schon raus. Er hat sich wohl von den komischen Kreaturen im Museum ein bisschen erschrocken ... na ja, vielleicht war's zu frueh so ein Museum zu besuchen. Er ist ja schliesslich noch nicht einmal ganz 5 Jahre alt .... aber nicht mehr lange!!!

Jalen and Lori

Jalen and Lori, our neighbor, have been hanging out a lot lately, especially on the weekends and on week days in the evening after school. They seem to ge along pretty well despite the 10 year gab between them. You see them playing playstation together like in this picture, or swimming together, or playing outside together, having dinner together ... and they hardly ever argue or not get along ...... I guess Lori's Jalen's big sister he never had, and he's her little brother she never had :).....

*Jalen und Lori sind fast jeden Tag immer zusammen. Spielen zusammen, essen zusammen, schwimmen zusammen. Die beiden scheinen sich echt gut zu verstehen obwohl zwischen ihnen 10 Jahere unterschied ist. Hier spielen sie gerade Playstation.

Volunteering at the Humane Society - Beim Tierheim

Jalen asked me a while back what 'volunteering' was. He heard it on Spongebob. So I explained it to him the best I could, but that gave me an idea to sign us up with the Humane Society here in Montgomery and volunteer, while getting Jalen to be around animals, and at the same time socializing the animals at the shelter and getting them ready to be adopted. It worked out great and we've been going for a few weeks now regularly on Saturdays, right after Karate. This past Saturday I took some pictures of us at the animal shelter. Jalen loves petting the kitties and petting the dogs and walking the dogs. One of our favorite dogs is Rocky. He is just such a wonderful, and loving and calm spirit and we love spending time with him while we can. We never know, every time could be the last time with him before someone adopts him, which is the goal, but we sure will miss him. We, Geno and I, decided not to adopt a dog or a cat just yet until after our little girl is home and settled .... until then we'll just spend whatever time we can with our favorite animals at the shelter, getting them ready for a new family to take them in.

*Vor einer Weile hat mich der Jalen mal gefragt was 'voluntieren' ist weil er das auf Spongebob, einer seiner Zeichentricks, gesehen hat. Ich hab's ihm damals zwar erklaert aber das hat mir die Idee gegeben uns anzumelden beim Tierheim hier und zu voluntieren. Wir sind schon ein paar mal gewesen, aber diesen vergangenen Samstag hab ich Photos von uns beim Tierheim gemacht. Jalen liebt es sehr sich mit den Kaetzchen und Hunden zu beschaeftigen, sie zu steicheln, usw. Einer unser Lieblingshunde ist Rocky ..... er ist sooo lieb, und freundlich, und dankbar ... und so lange wir koennen werden wir die Zeit mit ihm geniessen, denn jedes Mal wenn wir zurueckgehen, koennte er schon adoptiert geworden sein, was naturlich das Ziel der ganzen Sache ist. Leider moechten wir noch keine Tier adoptieren bis nicht unsere Tochter schon zu Hause ist, und sich einigermassen eingelebt hat. Bis dahin werden wir unsere Zeit mit den Tieren im Tierheim geniessen, und sie auf ihr neues Zuhause in einer Familie vorbereiten.

Jalen's new Pet - Jalen hat ein "Haustier"

Jalen's got a new pet. His Dad got him a fish. We gotta start small .... baby steps. Learning how to take care of a fish and feeding a fish and then .... maybe .... moving on to other pets. The fish is blue and is in that glas bowl. I forgot to ask Geno what kind of a fish it is, but it is a pretty one.

*Dada hat Jalen einen Fish gekauft. Er ist so blaulich mit langen Flossen. Keine Ahnung was es fuer ein Fisch ist aber Jalen futtert ihn jeden zweiten Tag und das ist sein 'Haustier'. Erstmal klein anfangen, mit kleinen Haustieren, und dann irgendwann vielleicht mit groesseren Haustieren.
